Candy Candy Candy

Easy to say, one of my favorite things to style and shoot is candy. As you may have caught on already, one of my other favorite things is pastels…so how convenient that candy happens to be in the best pastel shades! My favorite candy store is the massively-sized Dylan’s Candy bar in Manhattan. Three floors of crazy candy goodness. I started a new job in December, and dangerously (and amazingly) enough, my new office is just 5 blocks from the coveted sweet shop. I made a lunch break stop there last week and stocked up on ALL.THE. CANDY. There was so much inspiration hidden in each and every one of those little clear bins with the shiny silver scoopers. I went a little nuts to say the least, but had a very specific shoot in mind. Sometimes the ideas that I have in my head don’t always turn out as planned. I’ve recently been shooting very minimalistic compositions — generally a simple flatlay, or one hero shot on a pastel color block. That being said, I wasn’t sure if something so bitsy and abundant would play along nicely with the rest of the images in my Instagram grid. I ended up being extremely happy with the outcome, and the final product is above. The only problem here is figuring out what to do with the massive leftover bag of candy that’s just sitting around. Not to worry though, I have a few tricks up my sleeve! To check out Dylan’s Candy Bar, visit
